Combustibility Testing

Combustibility Testing

Accredited laboratory testing of dust samples for explosibility parameters including Kst, Pmax, MIE, MEC, and LOC.

About This Service

Overview

Understanding the explosive characteristics of your dust is fundamental to any DHA programme. Combustibility testing provides the quantitative data needed to classify your materials, select appropriate explosion protection equipment, and design safe dust collection systems. DASH Consult coordinates sample collection, chain-of-custody documentation, and testing through accredited laboratories.

Testing parameters include the Deflagration Index (Kst), Maximum Explosion Pressure (Pmax), Minimum Ignition Energy (MIE), Minimum Explosible Concentration (MEC), Limiting Oxygen Concentration (LOC), and Minimum Ignition Temperature (MIT) of both dust clouds and layers. These results feed directly into the DHA process and inform decisions on explosion venting, suppression, isolation, and inerting.

We help you interpret the results in the context of your specific operations, translating laboratory numbers into practical engineering guidance. Our team can also maintain a dust characterisation library for your facility, ensuring that new materials are tested before they enter production.
